This Other Eden

This Other Eden attempts to address the issue of gender roles in contemporary Western society, their source in religious doctrine and their effect on policymaking at the global level. To do this I've created an allegory employing two symbols from pre-christian Celtic religion, the sword and the grail, to represent the male and female aspects respectively. The concept that man is created in the image of God, from the Judeo-Christian story of Genesis, becomes the basis for the threat that we make against ourselves, to expel ourselves as a species from the Eden that is the planet Earth, with the flaming sword of nuclear annihilation or the destruction of the environment.
