Claudia, I have fond memories of my days at kitchen duty. Lillian had a loud bark but a small bit. I wish she was going to be there. I learned how to make great salads there. I had kitchen keys as well and I remember putting cold spaghetti in someone's bed and they really screamed when they put their feet on it. To who ever that was I hope you can laugh about it now.

I remember many nights sitting up in the dining room writing papers, staying awake on candy bars and that great butter drenched toast. I look forward to seeing you all on Friday.

Food...can I confess that Barlow was where I really learned to eat badly...and sometimes not at all? Ice cream on Sunday (but not for those in chorus), my first mocha...coffee with a packet of Nestle's chocolate mixed in, and "painting" the toast with melted butter (?) at morning kitchen duty.

Okay, Claudia, I have a confession: I was fortunate enough to have the kitchen as a community job. I therefore had keys for the kitchen. And whenever we had austerity meals, I was sure to go back much later and pig out on the real food! Ahhhh the joys of having what one wants when they want it!!!!!Ciao

Pals, I'm so excited about the reunion, my 17 year old daughter had to leave the house in disgust. I have become a cook and surely channel Lillian , LOuise and Lou every time I stand at the stove.. Remember all of those Sexton chicken pot pies, and plates of shoe leather liver, each revealing a blue and white pagoda when you finished and licked your dish ? Austerity meal . WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please everyone talk to me about your food memories. ( If you have any.) Remember how they used to give us an actually edible meal when the parents came.? I remember once, Lou hit me? Was I the only one.? Once, Jesse Jackson hid all of the silver ware in the flour bin and once someone put guppies in the water pitchers. I wanna do that stuff again. Love to y'all Claudia

I just want to inform everyone on a couple of last minute cancellations by some faculty and alumnae. Unfortunately, Ted Tuttle had an accident with his car and managed to total it. He regrets that he will not be able to make it this time around.

Jim GR Stewart, unfortunately has an ailing mother that needs his immediate attention and he too regrets that he will not be able to make it for this one. He promises to make it to the next one and so we shall have one, no doubt, perhaps as soon as NEXT year!

The last cancellation is from Jeannie Van Arsdale that had another conflict come up and regrets not being able to attend.

That's it for now. See you all Friday.........and some of you tomorrow.

Hey, I am still alive and living well. I am happy, Joyous and free. If you knew me back when, I'd like to chat. I attended Barlow in the 11th grade from 1974 - 1975. I didn't get kicked out, however, they (George) didn't ask me back for senior year. Barlow was my 6th high school. I didn't know what to tell my parent's because you couldn't get kicked out of Barlow. We thought we were some kind of governnment experiment. On a more somber note, but I feel an important one-there are several Barlovians that are deceased, and they should not be forgotten. I know a few names anecdotally, but only want to mention those that I know definitely have passed away; Monica Burns, Jeremy Sungard, Peter Selden. Others should post names of those that they are certain about, and we should remember them over the weekend.

Well, I'm really psyched! I've made my office well aware that they'll just HAVE to do without me for a few days. My husband, home and orchids will just have to be patient. Our kids and my sister will have to forgo their weekly weekend chats. My walking partner will have to be content to either walk alone or skip it. The world can wait while I get to visit the old haunts. While they may suffer withdrawal, I'll be partying with some wonderful old friends and, hopefully, some new ones as well. I'll see you all Friday night...and some Friday afternoon!

Oh, yes! Before I forget, let me say that I'm so very grateful to Jon, Juan and all of you for making this weekend possible.

It is time to hear from another Oregonian. I have been enjoying all the messages from everyone and would love to make the trip back to the reunion. But my family and I will be heading in the opposite direction - west to Hawaii to vacation and visit with my brother Linc (class of '63). Maybe we should organize a Barlow-Hawaii chapter and have the next reunion out there? Anyway have a great time next week. I will be thinking about everyone.

Well where are all the 50's folks? I graduated in 1960 (having thus attended both Barlow and Viewpoint) and recognize Suzy Eisenman's name and share her puzzlement. Frankly, don't want to be the oldest person there. And to make this a chicen and egg proposition, but I hesitate to come, all the way from Oregon, unless there are some recognizable names (if not faces) from those times. Are they internet-phobic (I found you all at great cost--- $25 membership in classmates.com) or just not locatable? Wouldn't Peter St. John be a good resource for those years? Can suggest a few other names.

Hello, I'm Barlow class of '76. I just recently found out about these web pages from Jon Landers and think they're a great idea! Also the newsletter "Barlow Family",and of course, the reunion, although, it seems no one from my time at Barlow, is going, or even knows about it-. I,ll try to find out what I can about the whereabouts of the faculty, staff, and students of my era and pass it on to the website....If any of you are out there and happen to read this, please E-mail in, or phone me at (802)254-4281 or write me at PO Box 580, Brattleboro, VT 05302.

Here's an idea-- how about another yearbook - year 2000 (pictures and all).Tell me what you think everyone. Hi from Suzy Eisenman, class of 1961, the first class of the Barlow School. I'm disappointed not to find anybody coming to the reunion from my era. There arn't even many names in the alumnae that I recognize, Kit, of course, and Andrew, who was a kid at the time. Life since Barlow has been various.I went to colleges: Bard, BU, Marlboro. I travelled: Europe, Israel. I got married, divorced, and then I met Charley Restino and we went to Cape Breton. bought a farm, raised two daughters, and I wrote 3 cookbooks and a lot of magazine articles. THEN (Life is long) I got multiple sclerosis and we started going to California in the winters so I could get exercise. Then we said hey, how about Victoria? So this winter we bought a big old house in Victoria, B.C. Where I am writing you now. In a few weeks we'll go to the farm to tie up loose ends, then come back to this place which needs fixing up.

My email address is mrsrestino@yahoo.com my Cape Breton address is: Suzy Restino or: Suzy Restino RR#1 Baddeck 1330 Pembroke St NS BOE 1B0 Victoria, B.C.V8R 1V4 Canada Canada

There is one more thing I should state and would be remiss if I didn't; I want to thank Andrew St. John for all of his support and help in finding some of you out there. He had sent me some of the letters and lists from earlier reunions and correspondence and I found this to be most helpful. I'm sorry he won't be able to make it for this reunion, but I can promise you all this won't be the last.

Just an update for those of you still trying to find rooms for lodging. The Simmons Way Inn in Millerton still has 3 rooms left! Their phone number is 914-789-6235. As with most Inns in the area, they require a two night minimum stay and a 10 day cancellation period. So get on the horn and book a room those of you that are procrastinating!! And yes, I realize I spelled picnic incorrectly the last time! My mind was on something else at the time.........or whatever! Anyway see you all soon.

Just a note relating to Kathleen's posting-when I checked last week there were plenty of available rooms in the Poughkeepsie area, 25 miles away-these are motels (with motel prices), as opposed to B&B's. If you do a search on a sight like travelocity you should find plenty of them.

Hello, everyone. So many thanks to Jon for all his work--yes the check is in the mail--and to Juan for e-mailing me the elementary cybertechnology to reach this web-page finally. My need for computer skills is pretty small, and I only have time to learn in the winter. Otherwise, I work 12 to 13 hours a day on the farm or as a professional gardener--longer in June through August. But nothing could keep me from this reunion, from seeing you all (underlined), or from being in that place again. It's odd to think that I'm only three to five years older than most of you, that you're facing all of the same issues--aging parents, children graduating and self-launching, what will be the second, third, or fourth career--that I am. Julie--please send me the hardcopy of the pre-crash messages--482-A Smith Neck Rd. Dartmouth, MA 02748. I'll bring yearbooks. David

Well, Jeeze-this is my first visit to this message board. So many people from so many years ago! Jon-you're really pulling this off and I congratulate you. I'll be driving to the reunion in two cars-Rosa (my wife) and four kids (12,10,9, and 3) will hang around for a few hours, then head back to Vermont and I'm sticking around until Saturday. I'll probably book a hotel in Poughkeepsie for the night-don't know what's available closer-), and look forward to seeing you guys. I should have a box of old photos lying around circa '62-64. Of course I'll bring them.

"Where Did All The Messages Go?" ( is this a new Pete Seeger song?) I know what happened - the Barlovians created a super-magnetic force- field of LOVE using digital characters - that blew out RCN's relay board - and all the messages with it!

Hello Barlovians. I am very sorry but neither I nor the Tech Support People at RCN (my Internet Service Provider) can figure out what happened to all the messages posted here prior to May 22. On top of that, I had assumed that they maintained regular back ups of user files. Sadly, I was wrong. So... the best I can offer is to apologize and ask those of you who had posted those messages to do so again, if you'd like. In the future I will be backing the files up myself, on my machine at home in order to be able to recover if this ever happens again.
